Small bumps on the skin of the penis are mostly caused by benign lesions. Common causes include pearly penile papules, ectopic sebaceous glands, folliculitis, condyloma acuminata, skin tags, etc. If it is accompanied by redness, swelling, pain or rapid enlargement, you need to seek medical attention promptly.

1. Pearly papules:

Pearly penile papules are common benign hyperplasia of the male genitals. They appear as small white or skin-colored papules arranged neatly around the coronal sulcus, with a diameter of 1-3 mm, and are painless and itchy. This phenomenon is related to excessive foreskin and poor local hygiene. It is a normal physiological variation and usually does not require treatment. 2. Ectopia of sebaceous glands:

Ectopia sebaceum is caused by abnormal development of sebaceous glands. It usually occurs on the inside of the foreskin or the frenulum, and is more obvious after puberty. This disease does not affect health, but needs to be distinguished from infectious diseases. Avoid excessive cleaning and irritation on a daily basis. If symptoms are obvious, electrocautery treatment may be considered.

3. Folliculitis:

Bacterial infection of the hair follicles causes red, painful papules that may have pus spots at the tips. It is often caused by shaving damage, moisture due to sweating or poor hygiene habits. In the early stage, topical antibiotic ointment can be used, and abscesses require incision and drainage. Breathable cotton underwear should be worn on a daily basis to avoid scratching. People with recurring symptoms need to check for underlying diseases such as diabetes.

4. Genital warts:

A sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which appears as cauliflower-shaped or papillary growths with a rough surface and easy bleeding. It is infectious and needs to be removed by cryotherapy, laser or photodynamic therapy, together with immunomodulatory treatment. Partners need to be screened together, and sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment. HPV vaccination can effectively prevent it.

5. Skin tag soft fibroma:

Benign hyperplasia of skin connective tissue forms soft, pedunculated small tumors, which are common in friction areas such as the groin. It may be related to hormone levels, obesity and other factors, and generally does not require treatment. If it causes bleeding due to frequent friction or affects daily life, it can be removed by ligation or electrocution. People with diabetes are more likely to develop it, and controlling blood sugar can help prevent new skin tags.

It is recommended to wash the genitals with warm water every day and avoid using irritating lotions； Choose loose and breathable cotton underwear and change them promptly after exercise ； Observe the changes in the pimple. If it does not disappear within two weeks or if symptoms such as enlargement, ulceration, and exudation appear, you should go to a dermatology or urology department. Reduce the intake of spicy and irritating foods in the diet, and appropriately supplement vitamins A and C to enhance skin resistance. Avoid squeezing or using folk remedies to prevent secondary infection. People with a history of high-risk sexual behavior need to be screened for syphilis, HIV and other infectious diseases.
