Patients with cervical carcinoma in situ can usually survive for a long time after standard treatment, and the 10-year survival rate is relatively high. Cervical carcinoma in situ is a precancerous lesion that has not yet broken through the basement membrane. The progression of the disease can be effectively controlled through surgical resection, physical therapy and other intervention measures.
Cervical carcinoma in situ refers to abnormal cells confined to the cervical epithelium without stromal infiltration. At this stage, the lesions can be completely removed through local surgeries such as cervical conization and circular electroresection. Cervical cytology and human papillomavirus testing can be followed up regularly after surgery. Some patients can choose physical therapies such as cryotherapy and laser ablation, which are especially suitable for young women who want to have children. After standard treatment, the probability of recurrence is low, the five-year survival rate is close to 100%, and most patients can achieve a life expectancy similar to that of healthy people.
A small number of patients may develop invasive cancer due to incomplete treatment or persistent high-risk human papillomavirus infection. If the postoperative pathology shows positive margins or extensive lesions, a second surgery or total hysterectomy is required. Those with immunosuppression and without regular follow-up monitoring may experience disease progression. In this case, comprehensive treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy are required.
It is recommended to follow the doctor's advice to choose an individualized treatment plan after diagnosis, conduct cervical cancer screening every 3-6 months after surgery, and continue monitoring for at least 20 years. Maintain a healthy lifestyle, get vaccinated against human papillomavirus to prevent reinfection, and avoid smoking and other risk factors. Abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge should be reviewed promptly. Standard management can significantly reduce the risk of disease recurrence.
