Under normal circumstances, applying for a health certificate during menstruation will not have any impact. Only a few scenarios involving routine urine examinations may result in deviations. There is no need to postpone your menstruation specifically to apply for a health certificate or wait until it is over.

Nowadays, the legally required inspection items for us to apply for a health certificate are all for diseases that affect public health, such as dysentery, typhoid fever, viral hepatitis, active tuberculosis, and infectious skin diseases. They are either drawing venous blood to check liver function, chest X-rays to check lung conditions, surgical screening for infectious skin diseases, and stool sampling to check for intestinal pathogenic bacteria. These items have no conflict with menstruation. Last week, I accompanied my aunt's best friend on the second day to apply for the health certificate required for employment in the supermarket. At first, she was afraid that she would not be able to pass it, so she carried a hot water bottle and was very nervous. The nurse at the window laughed after hearing her concerns and said that people come to apply for the certificate every day during their menstrual period, and they can do it normally. She completed all the items that day in 40 minutes, and got the certificate in the afternoon. There were no problems.

However, not everyone is so smooth. My colleague encountered a small pitfall when she applied for a health certificate last month. The examination items in their area included urine routine. She was too embarrassed to say that she was on her period. The urine sample left was mixed with some menstrual blood, and the result showed that the urine occult blood was 3+. The place where the certificate was issued asked her to come back for a reexamination after she was clean. In fact, this is not a big problem. Just like if you wash your hands with a small cut on your hands, there will definitely be some red blood cells in the water. Either there is a real problem with the urinary tract or kidneys, or it is just contaminated by menstrual blood during the sampling.

If you happen to be on your period and are in a hurry to get the certificate, just take the initiative to mention to the medical staff that you are in your menstrual period when you go there. Most sites will either skip the urine routine items or simply ignore the abnormal occult blood when interpreting the results, which will not block your certificate application process.; If you really need to do a urine routine check, you can also ask in advance if you can do a follow-up check later to avoid a wasted trip.
