It is not recommended to treat short foreskin frenulum on your own. Mild symptoms can be improved by moderate stretching. Severe cases require medical treatment for frenuloplasty. A short foreskin frenulum may be related to congenital developmental abnormalities, local inflammation or trauma, and usually manifests as erection pain, discomfort during sexual intercourse or frenulum tear and bleeding.
Physiologically short foreskin frenulum can be relieved by daily washing with warm water and gentle stretching exercises, combined with lubricant to reduce friction, which may last for several weeks. Use gentle force during operation to avoid frenulum damage caused by violence. If it is accompanied by local redness, swelling or increased secretions, it may indicate co-infection, and the traction must be stopped and seek medical attention promptly.
Pathological frenulum often requires medical intervention. Frenuloplasty restores the elasticity of the frenulum by releasing short fiber bundles and can be completed in 15-30 minutes under local anesthesia in an outpatient clinic. Traditional surgery may use transverse incision and longitudinal suturing. Laser surgery has the characteristics of less bleeding and quick recovery. After surgery, the wound needs to be kept dry, use erythromycin ointment to prevent infection, and sexual intercourse is prohibited within 2 weeks.
In daily life, you should choose loose cotton underwear to reduce friction and avoid using irritating cleaning products such as soap. If frenulum lacerations, scarring, or normal urination occur repeatedly, surgical treatment should be given priority. Attempting to cut off the frenulum on your own carries the risk of severe bleeding and is absolutely prohibited. It is recommended to go to the urology department or andrology department of a regular hospital for evaluation, and choose conservative training or surgical correction according to the individual situation.
