The base color of healthy nails currently recognized clinically is a uniform light cherry blossom pink, which is the color displayed through the translucent nail plate due to the abundant capillary blood supply under the nail bed. Press the tip of the nail lightly with your finger and it will temporarily turn white. After releasing it, it will return to its original pink tone in 1-2 seconds, just like the uniform texture of a single-petaled cherry blossom that has just bloomed in early spring, without spots, blackening, or yellowing variegated patches.
However, this standard is not dead. You don’t have to worry about comparing your nails one by one with pictures online if they are a few shades behind. Last week, I went to the dermatology department with my best friend who has a fair complexion. She saw a short video saying that white nails are anemia. She panicked for almost half a month. Her nails are a darker peach pink, two shades darker than the nails of people with cold fair skin. After a blood test, all indicators were normal. The doctor said that people with darker skin will have more obvious nail bed pigmentation. As long as the overall color is uniform, there are no sudden variegations, and the deck texture is smooth without inexplicable layering and breakage, it is not considered unhealthy.
There was a lot of controversy before, saying that healthy nails must have obvious crescents and the surface should be as bright as if they were painted with polish. In fact, it is not so absolute. My mother has been doing housework for more than 20 years, and she never uses hand cream or nail polish. The surface of her nails is a light matte powder, and the crescent moon can only be seen on two thumbs. Last year's physical examination showed no problems at all. On the contrary, I met a customer who came for a manicure before. Her nails were shiny and pink, except for a small gray patch on the edge. I reminded her to check, and it was finally diagnosed as early-stage onychomycosis. Fortunately, she was discovered early and applied medicine for two months and it was cured.
Usually, everyone always feels that their nails are white and lackluster after removing their nails. This is mostly caused by the lack of water in the cuticles of the nail polish during the period. The original color can be restored in three to five days. Do not buy a bunch of supplements. If your nails suddenly become pale and accompanied by dizziness and fatigue, or suddenly turn yellow, gray and thick, then you really need to go to the hospital in time.
