In fact, there is no standard process answer that is universal across the Internet. The core logic cannot cover the three basic actions of "cleansing-moisturizing-protection." It is enough to add corresponding functional items based on your skin type and current skin condition. There is no need to impose seven or eight steps to burden the skin.
Two years ago, I helped my best friend with oily and acne-prone skin tidy up her skin care cabinet. I dug out the foundations, essences, whitening essences, anti-aging essences, lotions, and facial creams that she bought following the trend and laid out half a table. I said that I followed the Japanese 10-step skin care process online for half a month, and I felt bored. She had a series of acne breakouts along with her jawline, so I gave her the following regimen: Mild Amino Acid Cleanser - Oil Control Essence - Oil-free Sunscreen in the morning, and: Makeup Remover - Cleansing - Apply Anti-Acne Essence - Light Lotion in the evening. Within three weeks, 70% of the acne was gone, and her face was no longer shiny.
Coming back to the specific content, what you usually do every day is really not that complicated. Oh, by the way, many people are still arguing about whether to use cleansing in the morning. Both sides of the argument are reasonable: oily skin will have a shiny face in the morning, and it is no problem to use a gentle amino acid cleanser to remove excess oil, and there is no need to apply makeup afterward.
In addition to the things that must be done every day, there are also some care items that don’t need to be bothered every day. When I first started skin care in the early years, I stepped on a huge pit. I used scrub twice a week and applied cleansing masks twice a week. After more than a month of struggling, my face started to become red and hot, and itched when exposed to cold or heat. It took me half a year to return to a healthy state. Nowadays, everyone is clamoring for the "regular application of acid". This is also true. For oily skin, using low-concentration salicylic acid once every two weeks to unclog pores and regulate cuticles can indeed reduce oil and acne. However, if you have sensitive skin or have a damaged barrier, don't touch it. Just apply a moisturizing and repairing mask once every half a month. Don't follow the trend and do skin rejuvenation.
There are also some special circumstances where the process needs to be adjusted temporarily. For example, if you go to the beach for a day in the summer and your face is red and hot from the sun, don't apply essences with strong whitening or anti-aging effects on your face that day. First apply a refrigerated repair mask for 15 minutes to soothe, then apply a repair essence and mild moisturizer. Try to choose non-alcoholic physical sunscreen when going out the next day to avoid irritation. If you have two red and swollen pimples after staying up for two nights recently, you don’t need to change your skin care routine all over your face. Just apply benzoyl peroxide gel locally and don’t put any extra burden on your skin.
To put it bluntly, the skin is just like your little succulents. You don’t need to add fertilizer and water every day. If it doesn’t feel oily or dry, red or acne-prone, it means your process is correct. There is no need to stick to the so-called "standard steps" on the Internet.
