Uterine cancer is usually detected through gynecological examination, imaging examination, pathological biopsy and other methods.
1. Gynecological examination
Gynecological examination is the first step in detecting uterine cancer. The doctor initially determines whether there are any abnormalities in the uterus through palpation and visual inspection. Common examination items include colposcopy, cervical smear examination, etc. Colposcopy can directly observe the lesions of the cervix and vaginal wall, and cervical smear examination can detect abnormal changes in cervical cells early.
2. Imaging examination
Imaging tests can help doctors understand the size, location and spread of the tumor. Commonly used examination methods include ultrasound, CT scan and MRI examination. Ultrasound examination can clearly show the structure of the uterus and adnexa, CT scan can evaluate whether the tumor has metastasized to lymph nodes or other organs, and MRI examination can provide higher resolution of soft tissue.
3. Pathological biopsy
Pathological biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing uterine cancer, by obtaining diseased tissue for microscopic examination. Commonly used biopsy methods include endometrial biopsy, cervical conization, etc. Endometrial biopsy can obtain endometrial tissue, and cervical conization can remove part of the cervical tissue for a more comprehensive pathological examination.
4. Tumor marker detection
Certain tumor markers such as CA125 may be elevated in patients with uterine cancer. Although tumor markers cannot be used alone for diagnosis, they can be used as auxiliary indicators to help evaluate the condition and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Comprehensive judgment needs to be combined with other inspection results.
5.Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy involves inserting a slender endoscope through the cervix into the uterine cavity to directly observe the endometrium. This examination can detect early endometrial lesions and perform biopsies at the same time during the examination to improve the accuracy of diagnosis.
It is recommended that women undergo regular gynecological examinations, especially if they experience symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding and increased secretions, and should seek medical treatment promptly. You should keep your vulva clean and avoid multiple sexual partners. Getting the HPV vaccine can help prevent certain types of uterine cancer. Eating a balanced diet, exercising moderately, and maintaining a healthy weight can also help reduce your risk.
